Students earn credits by passing classes. However, sometimes passing a class presents a challenge and options for credit recovery are needed. Please contact your teacher and school counselor for school-specific information about each option below and to determine which best addresses the need.
Grade Repair:
Students who:
- need additional time to complete assignments necessary to pass a subject due to absences,
- have experienced special/extenuating circumstances that jeopardize their ability to remain on track to pass a subject during a nine-week grading period (e.g., death/serious illness in the family, displaced due to fire, etc.), or
- students who need to recover a failing grade (59 or below) during any of the first three (3) quarters of a yearlong course or the first quarter of a semester-long course. This allows the student to earn the full number of grade points available in the course and the missing credit.
Credit recovery: The recovery can be used when a failing grade has been recorded on the transcript for either a half credit or a full credit.
Credit Recovery options include:
- Attend summer school
- Retake the course at current school site
- Complete online Credit Recovery course at school site using Grade Results (with a maximum grade of 60%)
- Retake an online course via Memphis Virtual School (MVS)- Full or half credit
- Attend Project Graduation
Note: Students who are concerned about NCAA Clearinghouse regulations should consult with a school counselor
