Description: Each year Memphis Shelby County Schools hosts a free summer camp for approximately 50 blind/visually impaired and Deaf/hard of hearing students serviced in the Memphis Shelby County Schools System. The summer camp is educational, but more importantly, it is an opportunity for our students to socialize, develop communication skills, and expand their recreational skills with other students who share their disabilities. It is our mission to expose these students, not only to other people with whom they can identify, but also to expose them to a variety of activities that they might have felt restricted from.

Description: The Pursuit Center offers dynamic summer programming for Memphis-Shelby County Schools students designed to provide a safe, engaging, and transformative experience. With a focus on personal growth and skill development, the summer intensive program includes exposure to career exploration, character education, social-emotional learning (SEL), and unique activities like equine therapy. Through initiatives such as Operation S.E.E. (Skills, Experiences, and Exploration), students engage in diverse opportunities, including podcasting, social media monetization, real estate investment tours, yoga, and more. The goal is to equip students with the tools and experiences needed to develop leadership, creativity, and resilience, ultimately supporting their academic and personal success within Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

Purpose: The Pursuit Center’s summer programming aims to empower students from Memphis-Shelby County Schools by fostering personal development, leadership, and self-awareness. Description: Project STAND (Social - Emotional, Transition, Academic and Network Developing) Summer Explosion provided a transformative experience filled with countless opportunities for learning, growth, and discovery. Interactive workshops, engaging field trips, and meaningful community service projects deepen the participants' understanding of the keys to success in higher education, the workforce, and civic engagement.

Purpose/Goals: Eliminate incarceration, recidivism and violent death among youth ages 14-19 by providing impact mentoring for college, career and community readiness during the most critical summer months.

Staff: 5 part-time employees will join the staff to support the critical need for content delivery and supervision of the students with in-person learning and off campus activities.

• Description: Camp Treetops, sponsored by Shelby County Schools Mental Health Center is a FREE two-week Summer Camp for Middle School students. The purpose of this therapeutic camp is to introduce students to FUN activities that teach skills and strengthen skills that foster resilience as the foundation for “bouncing back” from difficult life circumstances (i.e. violence, grief, bullying, abuse, divorce, and more). Conflict resolution, anger management, problem-solving, coping, self-esteem, stress reduction, identifying and expression of feelings, communication, and character building are central points of student skill attainment. The camp leaders are MSCS licensed mental health professionals. Treetops activities occur in an environment that is nurturing, friendly, and accepting. Each child is given unconditional positive regard and encouragement. The experience at Camp Treetops is designed to be educational, stimulating, and fun by employing interactive activities that include arts and crafts, team building, games, music, dance, drama, and sports/physical exercise.
