The S.E.E.D Department works as an advocate for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) by ensuring compliance to laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, religion, and sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity). By providing necessary, district-wide training opportunities and investigating issues of civil rights violations, the Office of SEED works to promote a safe and equitable educational experience for all students in Shelby County Schools.
