What are the expectations of students of Dual Enrollment students?

Attendance:

Students are expected to adhere to the college calendar and attend all scheduled classes and required student sessions. Each instructor may determine how absences and tardiness affect students’ overall grades. Each student is responsible for reading the course syllabus. Regardless of the reason or nature of the absence, students are responsible for the work covered by the instructor and for the timely submission of all assignments

Discipline:

Students are expected to review and adhere to the MSCS Code of Conduct and the college’s policy of student conduct. Plagiarism and fraudulent behaviors are unacceptable. Please review the individual college’s student handbook (printed or online) for more information regarding each college’s honor code.

Grades

To maintain eligibility to participate in the Dual Enrollment program, students are expected to maintain a 2.0 cumulative college grade point average, which will be certified by the respective college’s Enrollment Services representative each semester.

Textbooks and Supplies

Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant funds may not be used to purchase textbooks and supplies. Some district funds are available to assist students in buying required textbooks. Fee waivers for books are available for students who qualify. Students receiving books are expected to be responsible for the textbooks and return them at the end of each semester. Failure to return books may result in students paying the cost of the book. Students must complete and submit the Textbook Agreement Form.

Transportation

Parents are responsible for student transportation to classes on college sites except for students participating in the Early College Program at select school sites.

Withdrawals

Students must withdraw by the college’s deadline. Withdrawals must be approved by the high school Dual Enrollment counselor and the District’s Dual Enrollment office. Students withdrawing after the college’s deadline may be responsible for withdrawal fees.
