Raleigh Egypt Middle School hosted a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) exposition last Friday, November 15th. The exposition included representatives from the following organizations: Memphis Public Library-Raleigh, T-Mobile, MLGW, St. Jude, Southwest Community College, Cloud 901, Agriculture Center, and Wolf River Conservancy. The exposition also included several student-led activities, such as coding, 3D printing, and Sphero robotics. The event was organized by Shanta Hill, STEM teacher, and Stacey Hill, STEM admin.
The exposition started with a panel of guest speakers from St. Jude, Wolf River Conservancy, T-Mobile, and MLGW. After the presentations from guest speakers, students were split into nine groups. Each group had a chaperone that supervised their visit to each table. Through hands-on experience, students were able to enjoy learning about possible job opportunities in a STEAM setting.
Stephanie Love, District 3 Board Member, was also present showing her support for the Raleigh Pharaohs. The event was a resounding success, with students not only engaging with the various activities but also gaining valuable insights into how STEAM fields are shaping the future.
Teachers and staff were pleased to see students actively participating and asking thoughtful questions during the sessions. Many students expressed excitement about the potential career paths they had not previously considered, from engineering and technology to environmental science and the arts. The exposition not only emphasized the importance of STEAM education but also fostered a sense of community, as local organizations and educational institutions came together to inspire the next generation of innovators.
