The Shelby County School Board is getting some national recognition for its hard work to improve education for Shelby County students.
The Board has received the 2017 CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence by the National School Boards Association’s Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE).
The award honored board members for their excellence in four key areas: performance, academic improvement, educational equity and community engagement.
Superintendent Dorsey Hopson and several board members accepted the award last week at the CUBE Annual Conference in New Orleans.
Lancaster ISD (TX) and Pittsburgh Public Schools (PA) also received the award.
