Bethel Grove Elementary announced on Friday, January 17, that one of their teachers was awarded with a STEM Forward Grant of $1,300.
“We are thrilled to announce that our very own Ms. (Veronica) Suggs has been selected as a recipient of the STEM Forward Grant presented by the Memphis Grizzlies,” the school stated on their Facebook page.
The grant will help Bethel Grove students in developing essential skills in different subjects:
- Math: Measuring and using proportions.
- Science: Exploring sustainability and innovation.
- Social Studies: Learning about government and city planning.
- Reading & Writing: Researching and documenting their work.
- Art: Designing and bringing their vision to life.
“With this grant, our students will embark on an exciting journey to build and research a future city using recyclables,” the school said. “We’re so proud of Ms. Suggs and excited for our students to dive into this innovative learning experience!”
The STEM Forward Grant could refer to a variety of programs depending on the context and the organization offering it. These grants typically aim to support initiatives, projects, or research that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, workforce development, and innovation. There are multiple organizations, institutions, and even government programs that offer STEM-related grants.
