District 9: Sherwood Middle School Honors a S.T.E.P. Teacher for His Exceptional Dedication

Sherwood Middle School is proud to recognize Perry Cleaves for being a dedicated and exceptional member of the S.T.E.P. program for the past 12 years.

According to Special Education teacher Natika Clark, who recommended giving this special recognition at Sherwood Middle, Mr. Cleaves “has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to our special education students, the school community, and my classroom. Perry Cleaves embodies the qualities of a true educator and mentor. Every morning, he greets our students with a warm smile and positive words of encouragement, setting a nurturing tone for their day. His dedication to our special education students is evident in the individualized attention he provides, mentoring them to build confidence and resilience. At the end of each day, he ensures they safely transition to their buses or cars, providing care and support until they are on their way home.”

In addition to his official duties, Mr. Cleaves assists with the general education students as well, ensuring their safety and academic progress at any time while on school premises. He really is “an inspiration to both students and staff.”

Thank you, Mr. Cleaves, for your true dedication, compassion, and professionalism as an educator!
