District 4: Southwind High Student Shines at 2024 Teen Arts Festival

The 2024 Teen Arts Festival, a juried art exhibition funded by Friends of the Library, celebrated the exceptional talent of young artists across Memphis, Shelby County, and beyond. Open to artists ages 13-19, the event showcased a diverse array of creative mediums, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, photography, fashion, and film. This year’s theme, “Inspire,” invited participants to craft their best interpretations, sparking a vibrant display of imagination and artistry.

Among the remarkable participants, Southwind High School student Evelyn Lopez captivated the judges and audience with her extraordinary piece, earning the coveted BEST IN SHOW award. Along with the honor, Evelyn received a $500 cash prize, and her winning artwork is valued at an impressive $1,100. Her success highlights the dedication and creativity of young artists in the region, inspiring peers and community members alike.

The Teen Arts Festival continues to be a platform where young artists can share their talent with a broad audience, fostering a deep appreciation for the arts within the community. Evelyn’s achievement stands as a testament to the power of artistic expression and the vital role of events like this in nurturing the next generation of creative visionaries.
