District 2 - A Shot of Inspiration: On and Off The Court

Memphis, TN - The Rhodes College women’s basketball team visited the Snowden Greendogs PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade classes, bringing with them not only their athletic talent but also valuable lessons about college life and career aspirations.

The team spent time with the students, sharing their personal stories about being both college students and basketball players, offering a unique glimpse into the dedication required to balance academics and athletics. The players spoke about their experiences, highlighting the importance of education and the wide range of opportunities available at college.

To make the visit even more meaningful, the team members read books about various careers, inspiring the children to start thinking about their future. Through these stories, the students were encouraged to explore different professions and dream big, reinforcing the idea that it’s never too early to begin imagining and planning for the future.

This special visit not only motivated the children but also helped bridge the gap between education and athletics, showing the young Greendogs the exciting possibilities that await them. The day ended with smiles all around as the students eagerly shared what they learned and their dreams for the future.
