Keith Josiah Gifts Nike Dunks to Students at Delano ES

In a heartwarming gesture, 26-year-old Keith Josiah – a talented painter, musician, and poet – has made a significant impact at Delano Elementary School by donating a pair of Nike Dunks to every kindergartner. This generous surprise aims to encourage student attendance and engagement, aligning perfectly with the district’s “Come to Win Everyday” program.

Josiah, who attended Delano Elementary as a child, expressed his desire to give back to the community that helped shape him. “I want these kids to feel excited about coming to school every day,” he said. “Giving them something special like these shoes is my way of saying education matters. I hope this encourages them to engage with their learning.”

The donation is not only about the shoes; it’s a broader initiative to foster enthusiasm among young learners. Principal Karen Simmons emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “Keith’s generous contribution is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have on our students. It creates a sense of belonging and pride, which are essential for their development.”

Delano Elementary’s “Come to Win Everyday” program is designed to motivate students to show up and engage actively in their education. By providing stylish new sneakers, Josiah aims to make attending school a more exciting prospect for the kindergartners.

“Keith’s actions really demonstrate how local role models can uplift our kids,” said School Board Vice-Chair Stephanie Love. “I truly appreciate what he’s done today, and I know our students will remember this day for a long time.”

As Delano Elementary continues to promote a culture of positivity and engagement, Josiah’s heartfelt initiative serves as a shining example of how one individual can make a difference in the lives of many.
