MSCS Awarded for Response to Instruction and Intervention

Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) has been recognized for its outstanding work in aligning academic and non-academic tiered support systems. RTI, or Response to Instruction and Intervention, is a layered approach to supporting student academic growth through a focus on academics and behavior.  MSCS received the RTI2-A + RTI2-B Ground Breakers Award for 2023-2024.

The Ground Breakers Award recognizes school districts that have demonstrated a commitment to RTI2-A + RTI2-B and meaningful change. It is the initial award in a series and indicates that MSCS is on track to become a District Model of Demonstration for RTI2-A + RTI2-B in the state. District leaders say the success has been proven through self-assessment, action planning, and district-wide professional development.

"We look forward to sharing stories of success and change as Memphis-Shelby County Schools enhances its tiered support systems for all students and becomes a model of demonstration for school districts across Tennessee," said a representative from the Tennessee TSC. “Congratulations to Memphis-Shelby County Schools for receiving the RTI2-A + RTI2-B Ground Breakers Award!”
