Tennessee Governor Bill Lee visits Kingsbury Career and Technical Center (CTC)

Memphis, TN – September 20, 2024 - Tennessee Governor Bill Lee visited Kingsbury Career and Technical Center (CTC) on Thursday, Sept. 19, to highlight the importance of College, Career, and Technical Education (CCTE). He and Memphis-Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dr. Marie N. Feagins were hands on with students and spoke with them about their career aspirations. They were joined by seven Shelby County Board of Education members and several members of the Tennessee State Board of Education.

Governor Lee and the group toured four classes: Welding, Automotive, Barbering, and Nursing. Kingsbury offers a variety of highly-specialized classes centered around career-building, with several courses charting the path to industry certifications and college credit.

MSCS offers more than 40 CCTE pathways across all high schools. CCTE students at select high schools, including Kingsbury, travel to their designated Career and Technical Center to gain hands-on training and continued education in their designated Program of Study. Students can also complete industry certification testing at the centers – for free.

MSCS’ four Career and Technology Centers are Trezevant, Kingsbury, Southwest, and Sheffield.
