We are just a couple of weeks into the new school year and there are already plenty of opportunities for you to volunteer at Shelby County Schools.
Dozens of Rhodes College students spent their weekend volunteering for SCS.
As part of their Day of Service, the Rhodes student helped the Snowden School’s PTO to do some yard work and worked with the PTO at Grahamwood Elementary on class projects.
About 50 student volunteers joined parents, students and faculty Saturday morning at Snowden School for "Snazz Up Snowden." They braved the rainy weather to do some clean up around the school grounds, including spreading mulch on the playground, trimming trees, and weeding flower beds. The volunteers also took the time to clean out the PTO closet.
At Grahamwood Elementary 17 Rhodes students spent Saturday morning inside helping teachers and PTO members get ready for the upcoming events this school year. The volunteers repainted student floor guidelines, cut out shapes for class projects and organized paperwork for the PTO.
Those are just some examples of the many ways the community is investing time to help Shelby County Schools provide the best education for our students. SCS has opportunities for you to tutor, read to students, mentor and even adopt a school.
