PROPOSED 2015-16 SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION PLAN

January 27, 2015 891 views

During the January 27 Board Business Meeting, Board Members approved a recommendation to begin the community engagement process for the proposed consolidation plans involving Lincoln Elementary School and South Side Middle School for the 2015-16 school year.

Under the Current Proposal:

Lincoln Elementary students would be rezoned to A.B. Hill Elementary, a school proposed to join the District’s iZone in the fall. South Side Middle students would be rezoned to Riverview K-8, a school currently in the District’s iZone.

The proposed consolidation of these schools into the District’s iZone is part of a commitment to create and expand high quality school options for students – a top priority within the 80/90/100% Strategic Plan. Our iZone schools are highly regarded as models for student achievement and school turnaround efforts both in the state of Tennessee and nationally.

The District will host a series of community meetings with each school to provide parents and community members with information regarding the consolidation proposal and collect feedback. Input from the community meetings, along with a Final Impact Report for each school, wil be presented to Board Members in March. It is important that community members and staff at these schools understand that NO decisions regarding the future of these schools have been made.
