Students were sent to school yesterday anticipating repairs would be complete; however, the decision to close these schools today has been made as a result of the ongoing MLGW repairs in the community. We apologize for the short notice, but we must do what is best for staff and students.
UPDATE: 10/21 – 1:59 P.M.
After-care programs and other after-school activities (athletics, clubs, etc.) are canceled at the following schools due to continued power outages. Staff will remain on campus until all students are safely dismissed.
After-care and other after-school activities are being held as regularly scheduled for all other schools. Please contact your child’s school directly for any additional questions.
UPDATE: 10/21 – 10:59 A.M.
As the District continues to monitor weather conditions and power outages, we err on the side of caution and safety for our students.
The average temperature is 65 degrees, and there is natural light in most classrooms. If neighborhood schools are without power, we know homes in the community likely do not have power. Rather than dismissing early in the rain and risking students arriving to homes in the dark, we will keep students safe and supervised at school where they will be provided nutritious meals.
If there are changes to this plan, we will communicate developments throughout the day.
