MSCS Graduates Shine on the Big Screen at Movie Premiere

Memphis, TN - Last night, the Malco Paradiso Theater buzzed with excitement as the premiere of "Two Faced: The Movie" captivated a full house. Written by Memphis native Nick B, a proud graduate of East High’s Class of 1996, and directed by Vincent Price, an Overton High School alumnus from the Class of 2000, the film marks a significant milestone in local filmmaking.

The event drew a sold-out crowd, eager to witness the storytelling talents of Nick B, who also made a cameo appearance in the film. As the lights dimmed and the film began, the audience was treated to a narrative that weaves humor, drama, and a compelling exploration of duality in human nature.

After the screening, both Nick and Vincent took to the stage, radiating pride and gratitude for their Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) roots. When asked how his experiences in MSCS inspired his creativity, Nick shared, "When I was in school, I wrote all the time, but just for fun. But she (Ms. Jackson, my teacher) was the first one that told me I should do something with it."

Vincent echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of nurturing creativity. "Follow your dreams, do the thing that inspires you. Pay attention to your mind's eye and don’t neglect it. Always feed it and nurture it, and you’ll be surprised what happens."

The film also showcased a talented cast full of MSCS talent, including Minnie Gilliam, a 2003 Trezevant graduate, Justin Shann and Janel Hines, both from Germantown High’s Class of 2002 and 2003 respectively, and the lead actor, Igor Couch, a 2002 White Station High School alum. Their performances were met with applause, highlighting the strong community ties and talent emerging from the Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

As the evening wrapped up, attendees left the theater buzzing with excitement, inspired by the story and the heartfelt messages from its creators. "Two Faced: The Movie" not only marks a new chapter for its makers but also serves as a reminder to young artists everywhere that with passion and perseverance, dreams can come true right from their own hometown.
