Dr. Marie N. Feagins has selected Dr. Lori Phillips, advocate for relationships and community, to lead the newly established Office of Partnerships at Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS).

“Dr. Phillips' extensive experience and deep-rooted commitment to community engagement make her the ideal choice to lead our Office of Partnerships,” said Dr. Feagins. “With her forward-thinking vision, we will strengthen our relationships with the business community and expand our network of partnerships for the benefit of our students and families.”

In her new role, Dr. Phillips will spearhead initiatives aimed at ensuring that every school within the district achieves the goal of establishing at least one business partner. This strategic objective aims to enhance educational opportunities and support for students through collaborative efforts with local businesses.

Dr. Phillips brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served the district in capturing the community voice and significantly increasing partnerships. She has been instrumental in implementing the Community Schools Model in ten district schools, with plans to transition an additional two schools by September 2024. Dr. Phillips also established a district-level partnership with the Mexican Consulate to provide essential services. Her proactive initiatives have contributed significantly to strengthening MSCS’s community engagement efforts and enhancing educational outcomes.

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Dr. Phillips earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with double minors in Public Relations and Journalism from Mississippi Valley State University. She furthered her education at the University of Memphis, where she obtained a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Adult Leadership, and later earned her Doctor of Education degree in Adult Leadership.

Dr. Phillips’ commitment to education and community service is evident in her ongoing efforts to enhance schools, support families, and foster positivity through her innovative leadership.
