Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is thrilled to host "Building a Legacy: The First 100 Days with Superintendent Feagins." During this milestone event, Dr. Feagins will share progress and the collaborative solutions established within her first 100 days as superintendent.
On Wednesday, July 10, the community is invited to learn how we’re moving Memphis forward by positively impacting education, communities, and schools.
Over the past several months, Dr. Feagins has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at gathering valuable input from stakeholders and implementing strategies to enhance student achievement and operational efficiency within the district. Building upon her detailed 100-day plan, she has actively engaged with the community through a variety of platforms and initiatives, ensuring that every voice is heard and every perspective is considered in the transformation of MSCS.
The journey officially began on April 1, 2024, where Dr. Feagins addressed the MSCS family through a heartfelt video message, emphasizing her commitment to the children of Memphis and Shelby County. In April, she launched her Voice Improves Partnership (V.I.P.) tours, visiting different locations across the community to directly engage with families and gather feedback on their aspirations for their children's educational journey.
Throughout May, Dr. Feagins continued to implement her vision by establishing a transition team, composed of local leaders, educators, students, families, and community organizations. Together, they identified key initiatives and priorities for the district, laying a solid foundation for meaningful change and progress.
Dr. Feagins' dedication to community engagement has been evident through innovative platforms such as Barbershop Talk sessions, providing a space for dialogue and collaboration. Additionally, she has conducted huddles with teacher associations, realtors, faith-based leaders, and other stakeholders to gain comprehensive insights into the needs and aspirations of the community.
As Dr. Feagins enters the next phase of her leadership journey, she extends an open invitation to all members of the Memphis/Shelby County community to actively participate in helping shape the future of MSCS. By harnessing the collective wisdom and energy of the diverse community, Dr. Feagins believes that together, we can create a brighter and more promising future for all students.
The Building a Legacy event will begin at 6 p.m. on July 10. The public is invited to join us.
