Superintendent Announces Facility Services Officer

Dr. Marie N. Feagins has selected Michelle Stuart as the district's new Facility Services Officer in the Office of the Superintendent.

As a founding member of the Memphis-Shelby County Schools Comprehensive Planning Department, Ms. Stuart has served the district for 17 years. 

"Michelle's knowledge and insight when it comes to our district facilities is unparalleled," said Dr. Feagins. "She knows each property's benefits and limitations, and her focus is on providing the best possible learning environments for our students."

In this new position Ms. Stuart will provide overall supervision, direction, and coordination of the management of school facilities, grounds and fleet maintenance, building renovations, and space allocations.

Ms. Stuart is currently the Director of the Facility Planning Department, which establishes school capacity and utilization, monitors the city’s mobile population and changing residential development landscape, defines attendance zones and feeder patterns, tracks facility needs, and prioritizes capital projects.

She is currently leading the district-wide facility condition assessment to identify current building conditions, needs, and costs. With her intimate knowledge of MSCS facilities and passion for our students, Ms. Stuart understands the unbreakable connection between facility conditions and student achievement and well-being.

Ms. Stuart is a graduate of Rhodes College with a master’s degree in Urban Anthropology from the University of Memphis.
