As we countdown to the 2023-24 school year, MSCS is partnering with organizations across the city and county to engage families and ensure students have the resources needed for a successful school year.

Make sure your child is up to date on vaccinations and ready to start the school year. Join MSCS and the Shelby County Health Department at one of our FREE immunization events at the TLA!

NEED TO KNOW: 

  • Healthcare providers cannot vaccinate a minor without first receiving informed consent from the minor’s parent or legal guardian.
  • Before administering the vaccination, the healthcare provider will have the child’s parent or guardian sign a consent form.  
  • If the parent or legal guardian is not able to attend, they should send along a signed note, allowing the adult accompanying the child to sign for the vaccine.
  • Please bring the child’s prior immunization history to the vaccination event.

NECESITA SABER:

  • Los proveedores de atención médica no pueden vacunar a un menor sin primero recibir el consentimiento informado del padre o tutor legal del menor.
  • Antes de administrar la vacuna, el proveedor de atención médica hará que el padre o tutor del menor firme un formulario de consentimiento.
  • Si el padre o tutor legal no puede asistir, deben enviar una nota firmada, permitiendo que el adulto que acompaña al menor firme la vacuna.
  • Traiga el historial de vacunación previa del menor al evento de vacunación.
 

 

Annual Back-to-School Well-Child, Immunizations and Sports Physicals

  • August 1, 9, 10 from 4-6 p.m., East High School, (3206 Poplar, entrance is behind the school off Walnut Grove)
  • August 3, 8 from 4-6 p.m., Sheffield CTC (4350 Chuck)

Call 901-842-2379 or text SCS901 to 91999 to schedule an appointment for annual checkups, sports physicals, immunizations, and more – offered in partnership with Christ Community Health Services. Elementary, middle and high school students welcome!

Stuff the Bus Supply Drive

Thursday, August 3, from noon - 6 p.m., Board of Education (160 S. Hollywood)

MSCS is partnering with United Way for its annual Stuff the Bus supply drive that helps collect items for students in our community.

 

4th Annual Back-to-School Unity Run

Saturday, August 5 at 8 a.m., Board of Education (160 S. Hollywood)

Families, teachers, staff, and community partners are invited to participate in a 2.3K family-fun run/walk at the Board of Education. This event also will feature a community health fair and screenings. REGISTER

 

Gear Up 4 School Day

Tuesday, August 1, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m.

 All schools will be open for parents/guardians to meet the principal, teachers and staff. Receive computer access or help with registration and choice transfers. Get supply lists, dress code information, bus eligibility information and more. Sign-up for parent organizations and before/after school care (if available).

 

Back-to-School Family Festival
Saturday, August 5, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Board of Education (160 S. Hollywood)

Come out for a day of family fun and take advantage of registration support, free vaccinations, free clothing/shoes (new items, while supplies last, proof of registration required), and school supply giveaways.
