Youth Risk Behavioral Surveys: Created and funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in to survey students in middle and high schools for risky behaviors associated with health. The survey addresses behaviors that have the greatest impact on young people.

HIV Awareness Education and Prevention: Funding provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to employ Special Project Coordinators to addresses 4 major approaches for youth at disproportionate rates: Safe and Supportive Environments (SSE), Exemplary Sexual Education (ESHE), Sexual Health Services (SHS), and Policy.

School Based Health Clinics: Staffed and operated at four school locations by Well Child Inc. Clinics are located at Northside High School, East High School, Westwood High School and Sheffield Career and Technology Center. Student clinics provide care for minor illnesses, immunizations, physical, and vision exams; and sexual health services for all students enrolled in Shelby County Schools. Family Care Centers: Staffed and operated at two locations by Methodist LeBonheur Health Care; Family Care Centers are located at 130 Flicker St. and 2800 Grays Creek Dr. The SCS Family Care Centers are open to all active SCS employees with a valid SCS employee ID, as well as any family members covered by the employee’s SCS health insurance plan.

CPR/First Aid/AED: Training is routinely provided 5 times monthly to full time employees. School based training can be scheduled by contacting Health Promotions. Enrollment and registration can be done via mylearningplan.com

Health Screening Teams: Teams travel to all schools and provide state mandated screenings for blood pressure, height, weight, hearing, vision, and scoliosis. Screenings are for students in grades PK, K, 2,4,6,8, and 9.
