District 4: Oak Forest ES Celebrates Reading with Community at Read for the Record Event

Oak Forest Elementary School recently celebrated Read for the Record, an inspiring event aimed at fostering a love of reading among students. This year's featured book, "Piper Chen Sings" by Phillipa Soo and Maria Pasquale Doran, captivated young listeners as dedicated volunteers brought the story to life.

The event was made possible through the generous participation of community members, including volunteers from Southwoods Baptist Church, District 4 Board member Tamarques Porter, MSCS personnel, and enthusiastic grandparents, all of whom shared their passion for reading with the students.

The students at Oak Forest ES played a vital role as well, acting as greeters and official tour guides for the visiting guests. Their enthusiasm and friendliness created a welcoming atmosphere that enriched the experience for everyone involved.

Special recognition goes to Mrs. Davis, the school media specialist, whose meticulous planning and organization ensured the event's success. Thanks to her efforts, Read for the Record was not only a celebration of literature but also a heartwarming community gathering, demonstrating the power of storytelling and collaboration in nurturing young minds.
