November 19, 2014 687 views

Reginald Porter, Chief of Staff of Shelby County Schools, has been named a 2014 African American Male Image Award honoree in the field of education. Porter is one of six awardees that will be honored on November 22 at the 20th annual African American Male Image Award banquet.

Each year, the Hobson-Goodlow Education Foundation and the Memphis Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. recognize African American men in the Memphis community who are role models for brotherhood, scholarship and community service. The awards honor men who excel in six key areas: arts, business, corporate, community service, education and religion.  The Banquet raises funds to support college-bound African American men in the Memphis community.

Porter is a product of Shelby County Schools; he attended Central High School and was a member of the unified Shelby County Board of Education for two years before being named the District’s Chief of Staff.
