K-12 Literacy Curriculum Professional Learning - SUMMER 2023 Series

 

PRE-K TO 5: tdoe eARLY READING TRAINING (ERT), COURSE ii

IN-PERSON - ONE WEEK LONG Sessions  

In collaboration with TDOE, Early Reading Trainings (ERT) will be offered again this summer for Memphis Shelby County Schools. Early Reading Trainings are designed to develop knowledge & application of foundational skills for PreK-5 teachers.  Early Reading Trainings include an asynchronous training (Course 1) and an in-person, weeklong training (Course 2). ERT Course 1 is an approved course for the new licensure requirements as outlined in the TN Literacy Success Act.  Additionallyteachers and teacher types** that successfully complete asynchronous ERT Course 1 as well as in-person ERT Course 2 will receive a $1000 dollar stipend.

  • Course 1 is available as an asynchronous learning experience on the department's Best for All Central learning management system.  Use this link to access and begin Course 1:  https://bestforall.tnedu.gov/binder/reading-360-modules
  • Remember Course1 is an approved course for the new licensure requirements. For more information regarding Course1 click here. 
  • Course 2 is not necessary to meet the new licensure requirements.   However, completion of Course 2 along with Course 1 is required for the $1000 stipend.  Course 2 will be available this summer and is currently confirmed for the following dates.

6-12 ELA: tdoe sECONDARY lITERACY tRAINING (SLT), COURSE II

IN-PERSON - ONE WEEK LONG Sessions  

In collaboration with TDOE, Secondary Literacy Training (SLT) will be available again this summer. The Secondary Literacy Training series will include Course 1 (asynchronous) and Course 2 (in-person).  These courses are designed for teachers of grades 6th -12th and focuses on using literacy strategies that can help support students in tackling complex text and becoming successful readers and thinkers. Any 6th -12th grade licensed, practicing teacher completing Course 1 and Course 2 will be eligible for a $1,000 stipend
