ENROLLMENT OF STUDENTS BEYOND COMPULSORY EDUCATION AGE
No student who has reached the age of eighteen (18) shall be permitted to enroll
in the Shelby County Schools after the first twenty (20) day attendance period
of each semester. An exception will be made if the student can show proof of
satisfactory attendance in another school system during the first twenty (20)
day period, if a doctor's certificate states that illness has prevented enrollment
during the first twenty (20) day period, or if the District is required to permit
the student to enroll under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
During the first twenty (20) days of each semester, those students who fall in
the following categories will be admitted only by special permission of the principal
of the school where they seek admission:
Twenty (20) years of age or older;
Nineteen (19) years old and in the eleventh (11) grade or lower;
Eighteen (18) years old and in the tenth (10) grade or lower.
